Before writing anything for your website, you first need to understand your target customers’ world and see the big picture, and tell the right story.

People today are busy, impatient, constantly distracted, skeptical, and under pressure. They’re handling far more than their capacity, and their ability to focus and process new information has declined. On top of that, they’re lazy.

When it’s time to buy something, they’re met with endless options—total confusion. The less they know, the more confused they get.

Remember: your target customers don’t belong to your world. They probably know just 1–2% of what you know, yet they still want to feel confident in their decisions.

Who’s helping them?

Here’s how website content is usually written:
Businesses know so much about themselves that they end up talking only about themselves. Some care even less—they copy and paste from other sites, use buzzwords, clichés, and empty promises like “innovative solutions that drive success.” They list services and features without tying them to real benefits. The text is boring, the headings are weak, and there’s no clear focus or strategy. Everyone sounds the same, making buyers’ lives harder.

You can stand out and win by learning to tell the right story to convert buyers—with the right message, tone, and strategy.

What do buyers really need to know?
Just one thing: “Why should we choose you?”

Everything you say—through any medium—must feel important, credible, and interesting to them. It should boost their confidence and help them decide.

Whatever time they spend on your website, fill it with enough strong reasons to choose you that you become the obvious choice in their minds.

Reduce their effort, time, and confusion in decision-making—and you’ll win them.

Websites are now cheap—this is what most business owners think and believe. If you don’t belong to IT industry, you might think technological advancements and fierce competition be the reason. But it’s not entirely true.

There is no technology magic here. You are just being fitted into something pre-built, by cheap developers and cheap designers. They don’t create anything; they assemble, do copy and paste, and do it fast. The result is the total mess inside. That’s how you get your website this cheap.

But you get your website—working.

No doubt it works, and it might look decent. But it’s crap—and It’s going to hurt your business.

Think, if a website can be produced this fast, this cheap, how many like this would be there on entire internet. Truth is: 90% people in IT industry build such websites—generic, lifeless, and forgettable.

Your website might look good to you because it’s yours; you gave it time, you pay attention, you understand it fully. But it’s not built for you, it’s built for your target customers—and to them you look no different. So, they don’t care.

What doesn’t standout, gets ignored.

Your website reflects your brand’s credibility

Online, trust is everything. People judge your website exactly like they judge your physical space. Think of how much care, time, and money you invest in your office, showroom, or store to make the right impression. Your website deserves the same attention—it’s your digital space.

Those who see your website first are silently judging your business. Never underestimate their count. You don’t see them coming. But if you lose them, you lose real customers.

Invest in quality website

Owning a great website means hiring a highly skilled salesman that works 24×7, never complains, and influences unlimited prospects at a time, turning many into customers.

So, keep price secondary. Find the right people to build your online identity—something you can truly be proud of. Invest time, thought, and care into perfecting it.

Website is your best marketing tool; few businesses leverage it well. It’s a far big opportunity. Bigger than you imagine.

Have you ever wondered how some movies brilliantly hold our attention for three straight hours? We don’t want to miss a single scene. What captivates us and keeps us hooked is none other than novelty at play.

We humans think in patterns. From our vast accumulated knowledge and past experiences, we constantly try to predict what will happen next. In truly brilliant movies, when we attempt to predict the next event, it’s almost never what we expect. It’s something different—novel, surprising, and totally unexpected—yet completely logical. Our old-world view shatters. The filmmakers break our patterns, and as a result, we pay closer attention. We remember, we talk about it, and we spread the story.

If you notice, many celebrities and influential people develop unique body language, a distinct speech style, or a signature element in their outfits. They use subtle variations in tone, pacing, or gestures. Why? It’s their public signature—what makes them memorable. Their style becomes their attention magnet, often mimicked by others.

Singers do the same. They craft a unique singing style through variations in pitch, tone, phrasing, and breath control—infusing emotion into each note. Think about how instantly we recognize certain singers by their distinct singing style.

Writers also rely on novelty, freshness, and surprise to retain readers’ attention. Keeping readers engaged is the writer’s responsibility, not the reader’s. Most writing fails because it’s dull, predictable, and lifeless. Nobody enjoys that.

If novelty holds such power, why do most people dismiss it?
Because it’s not easy. It demands deep thinking—and thinking is hard, perhaps one of the hardest things in the world.

We’re naturally drawn to the easy route. We use tools mindlessly. We create commodities. Anything created with ease and in abundance loses its value. Cheapness, speed, and automation often produce mediocrity.

The same happens in website design. The ease and speed with which technology now produces websites create the illusion that it’s no big deal. And yes, it’s easy—but most such websites just sit there, doing nothing or even harming businesses. They’re generic. They lack originality, thought, and personality.

Creating a website that truly represents you—your values, thinking, and care—in a novel and delightful way cannot be done with shortcuts. You don’t copy from others; you express what’s inside you, what people should know and care about—in your unique voice.

No tool beyond knowledge, experience, and thinking comes to rescue.

Because novelty is so powerful, your chances of success with it are remarkably high. Few people invest in it because they can’t see it as an opportunity, again, because it involves thinking.

Your chances of converting prospects into customers rise when you can make them stay and engage longer with your website.

Visitors never use websites the way you think. They come because they have questions — and they hope to find answers. For this, they scan. They pause at sections that seem to answer one of their pressing questions.

You need to craft each section so it not only answers specific question but also inspires interest and makes visitors curious to know more. You need to do this for every section on your website.

You don’t know where your visitors will land first on your website. Whether they arrive on a service page, intro page, product page, or blog post — every piece must make visitors curious and encourage them to dig deeper and come closer.

Moreover, make every section complete in itself; you don’t know whether they’ll put effort to look further or not.

Anticipating the most pressing questions that your prospects may need answers for must be your guide in deciding which sections make sense. The more they feel that what you say is exactly what they were looking for, the more they’ll trust, appreciate, and like you.

Judging is deeply ingrained in our brains. Everyone and everything is first judged, if passes, then gets the chance for analysis.

In wild times, quick judgements helped our human ancestors survive. These people needed to rapidly assess threats in the environment. Even in times of Kings and Emperors, survival often hanged upon how fast and correct people judged social situations and acted accordingly.

Though times have changed. We don’t encounter such grave dangers now, but they’ve not eliminated. New kinds have erupted.

We can’t afford to let new people enter in our lives with ease. As protection against new people entering our lives, we build invisible walls around us. Some people let others come in easily in their lives and others don’t.

Whenever we met someone first time, we always look for visible cues to quickly categorise the person safe, unsafe, ignorable, valuable, and so on. This capability helps us navigate this complex world efficiently.

Research shows people form impressions of strangers’ personalities in fraction of seconds.

Website is no different. It represents you—your business’s only real digital identity on the planet. Those who come to your website are also in search of good people to enter their lives. They’ll judge your website and your business from it.

From different cues on your website—looks, behaviour, speed, ease, clarity, uniqueness, understanding— they start to form opinions about you and your business quickly.

Most websites—created without enough thinking, knowledge, experience, and effort—always feel unprofessional, boring, and common. What’s boring and common is ignored. Visitors come and go, but never stay—let alone to get interested and trust you. Professional websites, however, have every piece crafted to emit the right signal. Every word, image, and detail feel different, special, credible. They instinctively start attaching values with your business that these things evoke—trust, respect, and uniqueness.

Compare the grace, the mood, the vibes that the building created by expert architects and interior designers evoke and the one resulted from decisions of unprofessional people. You know the difference.

The finished product may look simple and easy to build—but it’s not. Seeing and appreciating the beauty is far different from creating it.

The one created by seasoned professionals has something that hold everything together—the invisible thread. It’s consistency.

Despite countless elements used in making of a building, nothing feels disjointed, foreign. Everything falls in place, perfectly, as it belonged there—creating impeccable harmony. We respect and wow such spaces.

The same concepts apply to websites.

You need to create variety while keeping website consistency intact. Variety makes it interesting. Consistency holds everything together, belonging to the whole.

The design elements—colors, fonts, layouts, spacing—the content, the interactions, when used wisely create variety without compromising consistency.

Such consistency in websites is hard to build and rare to find. It signals attention to detail, and a subconscious gesture of care for customers. Website consistency is the key indicator of professionalism—a visual cue people use to judge website’s credibility. Then it aid in quick understanding, less effort, and less confusion—raising confidence.

Consistency in websites also signals stability and dependability—qualities people associate with trustworthy businesses.

To grow, you need to get noticed. To get noticed, you need to stand out. To stand out, you need to do something different, very different. And in the world of social media, that’s hard, extremely hard.

On the surface, social media looks promising, but in reality, it’s not so. There, you don’t compete with your real competitors, or people in your industry; you compete with everyone. The businesses that seem to grow there allocate huge budgets and hire skilled marketing teams to achieve such results. In addition, there are creatives, highly skilled influencers, entertainers, and businesses with more sensual products and services.

Then, the ads, if not created strategically by professionals who understand the game, will also not work much.

Moreover, people who run these companies decide what kind of content to show to people based on the algorithm rules they set. And these rules keep changing based on what benefits these companies. Many times, despite having a huge following, your content doesn’t show up accordingly.

As a busy small business owner, you probably can’t afford to allocate the time, effort, and budget needed to get some satisfactory results.

Besides, social media doesn’t offer much flexibility and control. Every business, more or less, looks the same.

Your website, on the other hand, is the only place on the entire internet that you truly own and control.

You can say and present yourself to the world in any way you want. Better you present, better and more effectively you communicate, the more you stand out.

After people land on your website, your only competition is their patience and interest. Keep this in check. They need to be impressed fast. Do that, and they’re yours.

Create a unique masterpiece. Present yourself as best you can. Create content that’s clear, interesting, concise. Never bore them. Speak in their language. Convey benefits, everywhere! Everything on your website must matter to them. Noting should remain to be removed. Save their time and effort as much as possible.

Very few websites are built like these. It’s a one-time investment of time, effort, and money. Far cheaper than any investment you make in your business. If you do that, your website turns into a golden goose.

People who attract attention, charm others, get respected, and gain power have one thing in common: strong personality—cultivated with immense effort and years of daily deliberate practice.

They develop many personality traits that masses rarely know they need to hone. These strong personality people—whatever they do, the way they speak, listen, and stand, the outfit they wear, the composure they hold, the calmness surrounding them, the way they respond, and many such things—everything about them is special, different, and captivating. Their aura is hard to ignore.

Websites, like people, have personalities. Mostly weak. Some strong. Now the only websites with strong personalities could afford to grab people’s fleeting attention, feels credible, gain trust, and bring them closer—eventually contributing in business growth.

The tools the professionals use to create strong personality websites are same as used by immature people. Difference is how well these tools are used.

Professionals know the rules, the principles, the importance, and how to leverage them to create desired impact. While others just use them without knowing any ‘how’ and ‘why’.

The website personality creation tools are:

Color: There so many to choose from (16.8 million). What combination? What effect will it create? What mood it will evoke? What industry? Will it differentiate our brand in an instant? The harmony? The legibility?

Typography: The curvature, the thinness and the thickness, and the tilt of the characters on the page contributes heavily in shaping website’s personality. Fonts have spirits. Like colors, there are tons of typefaces (fonts) to choose from, each of different style and personality. Which one to choose that would create certain effect is no easy a task.

Visuals: How well your eye is trained to spot right images and videos that amplify the impact of what you say? Then the icons: their look & feel must be in sync with everything else and consistency uncompromised.

The writing style: Who’s writing for your site? What level of proficiency he or she has? Websites are used differently and generally impatiently. You get much less time to make your point. Everything must be strategic and well thought.

Animations: Animations are built to make your visitor’s life easier not hard. Few cares. They look cool; add them. No. Like everything, their use must be strategic and meaningful—always assisting.
